FY14 COF TEMF

Joint Base Lewis McChord, WA

This $46.5M Federal project for Joint Base Lewis McChord (JBLM) includes a Company Operations Facility (COF) with attached covered hardstand, building information systems, fire protection and alarm system, Intrusion Detection System (IDS) installation and Energy Monitoring Control Systems (EMCS) connection as well as Tactical Equipment Maintenance Facility (TEMF) with vehicle maintenance shops, vaults, traveling bridge crane and associated specialized mechanical systems. The site is on 25 acres and both facilities are a combined 104,774 SF of space. The project has sustainability and energy efficiency features that will be provided to meet both LEED Silver and LEED Gold requirements.

One of the biggest challenge from the project was the design only being at 60% complete when Absher bid the project. In addition, the plans and specifications often have conflicting requirements. The issue is multiplied when the buildings specs and plans are different although one of the major goals of the project is to have them be very similar. While a challenge, this has allowed the project team many instances to showcase Absher’s quality customer service and professional knowledge.
