Denny Middle School – Chief Sealth High School

Seattle, WA

The Denny/Sealth project started with a nine-month preconstruction period and phased bid process to procure early subcontractors, start construction and achieve the MACC while cutting four months off the construction schedule. The renovation of Sealth retained much of the school’s original footprint, while upgrading and replacing many features including a remodeled performing arts center; a new galleria space housing the kitchen and shared dining areas for both schools, and a refurbished glass cone that marks the entrance. The Denny Middle Schools construction occurred on the fully occupied campus. The project incorporated a number of sustainable features, most notably a green roof to limit stormwater runoff.
