Salish Lodge Renovation
The $30M GC/CM Salish Coast Elementary School (formerly Grant Street Elementary School) is a new 63,000 SF elementary school facility that will primarily serve grades K-5. The facility will also house the District’s birth to 3 years old and preschool programs and their alternative OCEAN program for home schooled students in grades K-12. The new school includes library, classroom spaces and a lower level of gym, cafeteria and kitchen spaces. Site work includes excavation, on-site drainage, paving, curbs, walks, site lighting, landscaping and utilities. The new school will have the capacity to house up to 650 students. Some green features includes high-efficiency HVAC, daylighting, cistern/grey water use, reclaimed materials, recycled materials, low/no VOC materials, lighting control system, and pervious paving.
The school has a hybrid building structure consisting of both wood and structural steel systems. The elevated library bridge is composed of heavy structural steel, without standard bracing. The library connects the two structures/wings of the new school, with each side having access.
