Cleveland High School

Seattle, WA

Description

The main building, built in 1927, was reconfigured to create smaller learning environments and wider hallways, and the building was seismically upgraded. Historic renovation included restoration of the theater and upgrades to the seating, acoustics and lighting. Other restoration included cleaning and repairing the exterior terra cotta and brick. A new three-story classroom building and a gymnasium/commons/cafeteria building were also part of the project. The new buildings feature masonry block that is similar to the terra cotta of the main building. The project increased the school?s capacity from 783 students to 1,000 students.
